Dragonball Daizenshu

The Dragonball Daizenshu are perhaps the best Dragonball source/reference books available on the series. Printed in Japan and in the Japanese language, they have exhaustive information, summaries, etc. about the series, its characters, battles, powers, and so forth. They also contain fantastic images from the series and and manga volumes as well as original art not seen elsewhere. There are 7 hard cover volumes of Daizenshu (just like there are 7 dragonballs) and there are 3 softcover "special" volumes. The original Dragonball and DBZ are covered in these volumes with brief cameos of DBGT (these books were printed before DBGT aired in Japan so that's why it lacks a strong presence in the volumes).

The breakdown by volume are as follows (by volume):

1-Complete Illustrations (artwork, covers,etc.)
2-Story Guide (summaries of events in mangas, tv)
3- TV Animation Pt.1 (illustrations,chara.guide,etc. of first half of DBZ)
4-World Guide (guide to the planets, etc. in DB/Z world)
5-TV Animation Pt.2 (Illustrations,chara.guide,etc. of second half of DBZ)
6-Movies & TV Specials (Illustr., chara. guide, etc. of all movies & tv specials)
7-Dragonball (main resource...packed with info, summaries,etc.)
spec. 1-features dragonball trading cards pt.1
spec.2- more dragonball trading cards pt.2
spec. 3-TV Animation Pt.3 (illustr., chara. guides, etc. of last few episodes of DBZ & DB 10th Anniv. Special)

I have collected most of these books over time (it took many years!) and will scan bits of them now and then. Some will be shown in this section here while others pop up throughout the rest of this site.

If you are seeking these books, I recommend searching the online stores, Amazon.com, and online auctions such as Ebay. These books are a rare find and can be expensive as most are now out-of-print. You may get lucky in the Dealer's Room of anime conventions now and then too as I have.
