Chapter 1: Feelings Unknown
For the next few days, Trunks
steered clear from Goten. Checking for
his ki at every turn and made sure he wasn't near. He managed
to stay out
of contact from Goten for a week until - the day the Sons came
to visit.
Making up every excuse he could think of, Trunks desperately tried
to escape
the reunion of the Sons and Briefs family which happened to fall
on that
day and he was failing miserably.
"Okaasan, what about homework?! I have to finish it by tomorrow!"
Trunks tried again. He was desperate in not seeing Goten at all.
"Trunks. You'd do anything to escape school." Bulma
said, lighting
her cigarette. "What's bothering you?"
"Nothing." Trunks lied, trying to keep from looking
at his mother's
face, knowing she'd know everything once their eyes made contact.
"You're a bad liar, Trunks-kun." Bulma leaned foward
towards her
son. "Is it Goten? I haven't seen you two together for a
while now."
"Iie. I don't want to talk about it." Trunks felt infuriated
at the
remembrance of that fatal day for him.
"All right. I'll leave it as that for now. Get yourself cleaned-up.
We're having guests." Bulma said, heading towards the kitchen
to see if
everything was all right. Trunks sighed. He couldn't avoid it.
He'll have to face
Goten sooner or later. He sighed again and with heavy footsteps,
walked back
to his room to change.
By the time everything was ready, the Sons arrived and Trunks
soon
noted. They were missing two members of the family.
"Chi Chi-san. Where's Goten?" Trunks swore he saw
a look of hatred
and anger shot towards him for a second before Chi Chi smiled.
"He's training with Goku-sa." She said, like it was
the most obvious
thing in the world.
Trunks felt something inside him shatter into pieces and everything
flew by like a piece of blank paper. When the reunion ended, he
had no
recognition of anything that had happened then. All he could think
of
was - Goten. Finally when day turned to night, Trunks couldn't
contain
himself anymore and without second thoughts, left his house and
took off into
the air, starting his blind search for his life-long childhood
best friend.
He soon found him and ironicly. Son Goten was sitting beside the
lake,
where they first met. Silently, Trunks glided down and landed
without making
a sound. His heart ached and fell at each step he took towards
the young
Son. Then, when he was only two steps from Goten, he stopped.
There was something about Goten. Something different. The lake
shimmered under the moonlight. Trunks studied Goten's facial expression
and
realised he could read nothing. Goten's face, hands and legs appeared
pale under
the moonlight and the reflecting water from the lake. He had his
back
turned to Trunks and his legs were pulled up near his chest with
his arms
wrapping around his knees. His eyes stared blankly at the otherside
of the lake.
Looking but not seeing. Trunks found himself holding his breath
as he
realised he was inspecting Goten thoroughly. The angel-like appearance
he gave him. His stare was broken when Goten turned his head around,
gasped and with a yelp, stood up and backed up from Trunks, slipping
and falling
into the lake as he did so.
Trunks blinked then chuckled. The more he tried to stop the
laughter, the harder he laughed. And soon he holding his stomach
and laughing
hystericly.
"It's not funny, Trunks." Goten spluttured, glaring
at Trunks as he
slipped his arms up on the bank. His bangs got into his eyes and
he
looked like a wet dog with its ears hanging down limply on the
side of its
head. When Trunks did not cease his laughter, with a snarl, Goten
reached out
for Trunks' foot. Before Trunks could protest, he was roughly
pulled into
the water. There was a loud splash and laughter. This time from
Goten.
"Gah! I'm going to get you for that!" Trunks coughed
once he emerged
from the water, dripping wet. He frowned deeply when Goten continued
laughing and with a wave of his hand, splashed a tidal wave at
Goten. Goten yelled
and soon a splashing contest started between the two teenagers,
wetting the
bank and themselves.
Their game came to a stop soon after and they were soon laying
flat
on their backs on the grassy ground. The night breeze blowing
ever so
gently. They let their shirts and pants flap on the branches of
the trees,
leaving themselves only in their boxers and Trunks in his singlet.
Silence
befelled the two as they lay there, staring into the pitch-black
nothingness of
the sky, with an exception for the stars and moon. The silence
caused a
tension to rise between them and soon they were uncomfortable
just lying near
each other.
"Goten-"
"I'm sorry." Goten cut off.
"What?"
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done what I did." Goten's
voice was low
and he sounded like he was forcefully saying the words out. "I
wasn't
thinking."
Trunks turned to his companion, who neither turned nor looked
like he
acknowledged his presence beside him.Trunks didn't speak. His
mind was a muddle.
This was the longest seperation they had ever had and it was a
horrible feeling. It feels
like half of you was gone and the loneliness that took its place
was eeriely
cold and bone-chilling.
"Goten. Do you remember the first time we met?"
Goten blinked, seemingly startled
and taken-aback by the unexpected question.
"Sure. You fell in the lake and I rescued you."
"What? YOU fell into the lake!"
"Nuh-uh! You did." A playful grin appeared on Goten's
face.
"What? You nearly drowned me when I tried to save you. You
were such
a baby."
"Oh yeah. I remember now. I dunked your head into the water.
I
thought your head was a floating ball or something."
"Yeah and Gohan had to give me mouth-to-mouth after he pulled
us
out."
"Funny. I thought a blonde gave me mouth-to-mouth."
"In your dreams."
"I feel insulted."
"You're supposed to."
"But then again I've dated before, unlike a certain someone."
And
that did it. With a furious pounce, Trunks fell onto Goten and
wrestled with
him. Rolling one way then the other, each trying to get on top
of the other
in a pinning contest. Trunks easily over-powered his best friend.
He was
soon above Goten. His hands pinning Goten's wrists beside his
head and he
was sitting on Goten's legs, just in case Goten did something
funny.
"Take that back." Trunks panted, smirking.
"I can't take back something that's true." Goten smiled
back. Trunks
felt his cheeks go hot at the sudden smile. He looked at Goten
again. His
still wet hair stuck to face and spreaded around him. His vulnerable
position
made Trunks swallow. Goten was half-naked, his hands pinned down
beside his
head by Trunks. The moonlight and the shimmering from the droplets
of water
on his body gave Goten a glowing appearance.
'He looked like an angel from the heavens.' Trunks found himself
thinking. 'Oh kami-sama, what am I thinking?'
"Trunks. Are you going to get off me?" Goten's playful
expression
disappeared from his face once he saw Trunks' thoughtful look.
He spoke
in a low and rather sensual voice. "Trunks." And that
was enough.
Trunks hessitantly leaned foward. His mind a complete blank and
in
the heat of the moment, his lips brushed against Goten's, barely
enough for
satisfaction. He stared at Goten with a look he never thought
he'd ever
had, tender loving care. Fully aroused, Trunks bent down and trailed
his
tongue along Goten's chest, licking up the droplets of water.
He went lower
and lower until he came to Goten's lower abdomen. His hold on
Goten's wrist
was lost and he stared at Goten's boxers. Trunks looked at Goten
for
acknowledgement and found himself relieved by the brief nod. Gently,
he
proceeded to tug off Goten's boxers as Goten, with his hands freed,
worked on getting Trunks' singlet off him as it was stuck to his
wet body.
Trunks stared at Goten's lower body before stopping and moved
back up to
Goten's neck. He buried his head into Goten's neck, nibbling at
every part
possible. His singlet was half-way off him. Goten tilted his head
furthur to the
side, giving Trunks more room. His hands grabbed at Trunks' hair
and gripped
at his back.
Trunks found a sensitive spot on Goten's neck. With a playful
grin,
he leaned foward and bit it, then licked it with his tongue. The
satisfying moan from Goten made him stop and he moved up to his
ear, licking
Goten's earlobe completely. Trunks was losing control. His saiyan
instincts was
kicking in and there was no way to stop it.
"Trunks." Goten gasped, feeling Trunks' finger trailing
down his
body again. "Trunks!" He called out again, this time
more urgently. Trunks
was quick to respond. There was no use for thinking.
Then suddenly, a large fruit fell from a tree with a plop into
the
lake. The sudden noise jerked Trunks awake from his position.
He pushed
himself up, confused and bewildered. His mind wasn't working and
he stared down
at Goten, who was staring back at him with a look of plead and
concern.
Trunks choked out a gasp, and quickly ran off, not caring about
his shirt he
left flapping in the breeze. Goten slowly sat up, reduced to only
his
underwear, he stared sadly at the retreating figure of Trunks.
The familiar flare
of the ki and the disappearing blink in the air gave him a sense
of lost.
He lay there, half sitting up and half lying down as hot tears
slowly
flowed down his cheeks. His shoulders trembled uncontrolably.
"Trunks. Trunks." He repeated. Again and again- and
the tears just
kept coming. There was no stopping them. Goten knew right then.
He loved
Trunks more than anything in the world.
Trunks' mind was racing, his heart
was beating faster than ever. His
hair flapped in the wind. His breathing grew quicker at each thought.
He
tried to shut out the memory, the remembrance of Goten's each
movement, each
breath, each sound confused him, made his head ache terribly.
'What have I done? What did I do? Why did I do it?' The questions
flew around his mind, hurting him mentally. He didn't know where
he was
going nor care. His mind was starting to become a blank. Nothing
seemed
important. Everything in his mind was Goten. The uncomfotable
feeling sank in and
yet he couldn't help but feel that being with Goten was the most
normal thing in
the world. Somewhere deep inside his mind, Trunks knew he was
going to
go insane if he doesn't find an answer to his questions.
"Trunks-kun. Get up. You're
late." Bulma called. There was no
response from Trunks. Annoyed, she called again. Still no response.
"Bra-chan. Be a dear and wake your brother."
"Hai!" Young Bra piped up, running for her brother's
room in small,
light footsteps. She pushed the door open and peeped inside. "Oniisan!
Wakey
wakey!" She called out. There was no answer. Trunks just
lay there,
unmovingly. "Oniisan?" Curious, Bra crawled up to Trunks'
bed and sat
on his chest. Her brother was awake all right. His eyelids were
half-opened
and yet he didn't seem to acknowledge her presence at all. "Oniisan."
Bra
lightly slapped her brother on the cheek. She stared in shock
as tears suddenly
flowed out of Trunks' eyes. His entire body shook uncontrollably
as he
clenched his fists, trying to stop the tears he had held back
throughout the night.
Still shocked, Bra did the only thing she knew what to do. She
wailed. "O-KAA-SAN!!!"
Bulma, of course, had to abandon
her duties and rush to
ful-fill her daughter's needs. But what she saw when she entered
Trunks' room was completely unexpected. Trunks had already sat
up and had his
arms wrapped tightly around his sister as he sobbed, ignoring
the angry and
confused wails from Bra.
"Trunks-kun." Was the only words she could possibly
say. Vegeta too
soon appeared at the doorway and he too was stunned. Since then,
Trunks
rarely spoke until he needed to and he wasn't answering Goten's
calls nor
greet him when they met at school. He had hid himself under a
hard shell and
nothing was going to penetrate it. Nothing.
Goten could do nothing but stare at his best friend's state. His
mind also a daze. Was it so wrong to have feelings for his best
friend? Was
it so wrong? And upon thinking that, he would always break down
and cry.
Unable to comprehend with what was happening.

Cliffhanger!! *evil laughter* I know the part is short. I'll try
to
make it longer the next chapter. ^_~
